Who issues electrical permits: Sonterra is a Census place built around the Sonterra Municipal Utility District, which the Texas Legislature created partly inside and partly outside Jarrell's city limits and partly in Jarrell's extraterritorial jurisdiction. Inside Jarrell's limits, the City of Jarrell issues permits through MyGovernmentOnline. Outside the city, there is no city permit office.
- 02
How to apply: For sites inside Jarrell, apply online in MGO under the jurisdiction 'City of Jarrell' and include the city's Master Permit Application with all uploads. Jarrell requires every contractor doing business inside the city to submit a Contractor Registration Application, a current certificate of insurance and copies of their driver's and state licenses. For sites outside the city, no county electrical permit was found.
- 03
Inspections: Not published. Jarrell handles permit and inspection questions through its permit technician.
- 04
What to know locally: Check first whether the site is inside Jarrell's city limits, since only those parcels get city permits and inspections. Jarrell has its own Unified Development Code and a building code update ordinance (2022-0322-01).
- 05
Utility coordination: Not confirmed by address. Oncor lists nearby Jarrell among the cities it serves, and Bartlett Electric Cooperative lists Williamson County in its service area. If a utility tells you Jarrell requires an inspection for a previously occupied building, Jarrell asks you to call its permit office to sort it out. Where Bartlett Electric Cooperative serves, developers submit a Developer Project Intake Form with plats and site plans before a kickoff meeting.
- 06
Typical review time: Not published by the city.
