Our electrical contractor license (TECL #39622) is statewide. We file the permit, handle the utility paperwork and meet the inspector.
- 01
Who issues electrical permits: City of Horseshoe Bay Development Services, using the GovWell online permit system (in use since October 5, 2026).
- 02
How to apply: All contractors, including electrical subcontractors, must register with Development Services and show valid state licenses. The $100 registration needs a state license card, driver's license and certificate of insurance naming the city. Building permits are applied for in GovWell.
- 03
Inspections: Schedule in GovWell for permits issued after October 5, 2026 (iWorQ for permits issued July 1, 2025 to October 5, 2026). Requests received before 3:30 pm are available for next-day inspection. All inspections must pass, and a CO checklist be submitted, before a certificate of occupancy.
- 04
What to know locally: The city's 2020 contractor registration ordinance was amended effective June 18, 2025.
- 05
Utility coordination: Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC). PEC asks for a 911 address, the service size in amps, and for commercial sites a warranty deed, approved site plan and plat. A one-line diagram may be needed. The city's own utility covers water, wastewater and garbage only.
- 06
Typical review time: Not published by the city.
