Commercial ProjectsPermits and inspections in Holland
Our electrical contractor license (TECL #39622) is statewide. We file the permit, handle the utility paperwork and meet the inspector.
- 01
Who issues electrical permits: City of Holland Building Permits and Inspections at City Hall, 102 W. Travis Street. Permit requests are emailed to the city's permits address.
- 02
How to apply: Download the Construction Permit Application from the city site and email it with your plans; the city says incomplete applications will not be processed. A new commercial building needs one digital set including site, civil, landscape and drainage plans. An interior finish-out or renovation with no expansion needs one complete digital set. The form asks for the electrician's name and license number, and the city asks for licensed contractors' contact information and credentials.
- 03
Inspections: Not published. The department conducts construction inspections and issues Certificates of Occupancy.
- 04
What to know locally: Holland's Code of Ordinances went live on eCode360 in May 2026. The city's utilities page links to the state's retail choice site rather than naming a provider, so electric accounts go through a retail electric provider.
- 05
Utility coordination: Oncor (lists Holland among the cities it serves, through its Killeen area office). For three-phase service, the electrical contractor installs the service cables and an Oncor crew terminates them in the transformer; the customer supplies Oncor-approved two-hole lugs. For single-phase service, Oncor says installing the service cable can take up to 15 business days after the meter sockets are in.
- 06
Typical review time: Not published by the city.
