Who issues electrical permits: City of Cibolo Building Department, 201 West Loop 539. All permits are applied for, tracked and scheduled through MGO Connect (mgoconnect.org).
- 02
How to apply: Create an MGO Connect account and complete contractor registration before submitting a permit. Commercial building permits are required for new construction, tenant improvements, additions and changes of occupancy. Plans are reviewed by the Building Department and, where applicable, the Fire Marshal. A pre-application meeting is strongly recommended for development projects, and zoning and site plan approvals are coordinated with Planning.
- 03
Inspections: Schedule through MGO Connect. Building inspections are Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fire inspections are Tuesday and Friday, and fire plan review is handled on Tuesdays and Fridays.

What to know locally: Cibolo's Ordinance 1475 adopts the 2023 National Electrical Code with the 2021 International Codes. A Certificate of Occupancy is required before any new or changed commercial space is occupied. The city publishes a commercial tenant finish-out guide.
- 05
Utility coordination: Guadalupe Valley Electric Cooperative (GVEC). The city names GVEC as the primary electricity provider for Cibolo. GVEC's commercial checklist starts with the owner getting zoning, survey and city permits, then sending a commercial request for information, expected load and voltage needs. The owner's electrician builds the secondary service, the owner requests city inspections, and GVEC energizes after the city notifies it the inspection passed.
- 06
Typical review time: Not published by the city.
