- 01
Who issues electrical permits: City of Bartlett Development Services (permit clerk) at City Hall, 140 W. Clark Street. Applications are taken by email, in person or by mail.
- 02
How to apply: Send one copy of everything by email to the city's permit clerk, in person or by mail. A commercial submittal needs a completed application, proof of ownership or lease, the TDLR TABS number, a survey or scaled drawing of the property, a site or civil plan, COMcheck energy compliance and fire plan review documents, plus an asbestos survey for existing buildings. The filing fee is $50 per submittal. Commercial and multi-family work needs civil engineer design for parking, fire lanes, drainage and utility capacity. The city has a Contractor Registration form.
- 03
Typical review time: Not published. The city lists submittal dates as the first business day of each month.
- 04
Inspections: Not published. The commercial fee schedule lists separate $100 inspections, including temporary pole, electrical rough, electrical service and the final combination inspection for the Certificate of Occupancy. Re-inspections are $100.
- 05
What to know locally: The city's planning page lists the 2020 NEC with 2018 International codes, but its commercial permit packet still cites the 2011 NEC and 2012 IBC, so confirm the edition with the city. All commercial and multi-family buildings get Williamson County Fire Marshal code review before a Certificate of Occupancy; register at WilcoPermits.com. Work started without a permit pays double the permit fee.
- 06
Utility coordination: City of Bartlett Electric Department (the city posts its own electric service area map). Oncor also lists Bartlett among the cities it serves, and Bartlett Electric Cooperative serves the surrounding rural area. Check which utility's service area covers the address. Bartlett Electric Cooperative takes service applications in person in Bartlett or online, charges a $25 membership fee and $25 connection fee, and collects a $200 staking appointment fee in advance. Its General Service rate is for loads under 25 kW.
